SENASA is a reference company in the environment within aeronautic sector and has therefore acquired a National and International recognition due, among others, to its projects on environmental impact assessment, aeronautical noise, emissions studies and energy efficiency. Likewise, it offers full assistance in policy development tasks, certification, air traffic discipline in terms of noise, and environmental assessment of plans and projects. For this work, SENASA has highly qualified multidisciplinary experts with a wide training and experience.
The global objective of reducing emissions and the Clean Skies initiative highlight the need to tackle the key aspects of development of the air transport industry from an environmental and sustainable perspective.
Today SENASA provides assistance to the National authority in tasks related to the implementation of the European Emission Trading Scheme (ETS) for aviation such as: Public information, transposition of European Law, technical support to airlines, revision of monitoring plans, specific studies, etc.
Likewise, SENASA participates, through an agreement signed with Airbus, in the Spanish Initiative on production and consumption of Biokerosene in Aviation. This agreement is part of the “declaration of commitment for the promotion of the development of aviation biokerosene” held among the Ministry of Public Works, Airbus, Iberia, and SENASA.
From its start in 2007, the Observatory of Sustainability in Aviation (OBSA) had the objective of being the National reference centre for the collection, performance, analysis, assessment and diffusion of the existing information on sustainability in aviation, considering its three dimensions: social, economical, and environmental.
Currently, OBSA contributes to aviation sustainability working actively in technical projects, international programs like SESAR or AIRE to improve energy efficiency in International networks like ANNA and in consultancy and training projects, as well as through the signature of various agreements with several public and private entities.
